Atlantic Canada Beer News

As mentioned on their Twitter feed ( @PEIBrew ), PEI Brewing Company’s Gahan 1772 IPA is now available at select ANBL stores in New Brunswick.  The brew is currently available in Greater Moncton, Saint John and Fredericton area stores.

In other related news, their Twitter feed also mentions that they have their applications in to get their Gahan Ales and Beach Chair Lager onto the shelves in Nova Scotia although it doesn’t specify if it is NSLC locations or the Private liquor stores.  I’ll update as more information is available.

Yesterday’s Chronicle Herald included the story of a new brewpub, the Townhouse, that has opened up in Antigonish.  The article describes how owners Rose Murphy and Terry Piercey took creative approaches to raise money to start the business and also references the great community support they have received  and the help Kevin Keefe of Granite Brewery has provided.

The new brewpub has a blog that includes information related to their unique SUDS Club and a Facebook page.  I haven’t been able to track down any specifics related to the beers that are offered by the latest addition to the Atlantic brewing scene but will post more information as it is available.

Special thanks to @cmallaley for sending me a link to the story on Twitter.

Hart & Thistle is releasing version 2.0 of its Hop Rock Candy Mountain today at 11:00 AM.  The beer is described as:

an East Coast style India Pale Ale brewed with copious amounts of Citra and Columbus hops. A redux of a classic H&T brew from days gone past. The hefty melange of grains utilized in the brew lend some serious underlying malt balls, a candied-malt complexity that is like, well, a Hop-Rock-Candy-Mountain of goodness.

Hope Mess Monster v3.0 with its 1210 calculated theoretical IBUs is expected to be available in the near future.
