Rockbottom Brewpub’s Saison Harvest Ale, a local-source wet-hop farmhouse ale, will be released Saturday, September 15th at 11:30 am.  The beer was brewed with 3 varieties of locally sourced fresh hops and topped off with additional fresh hops from Quebec.   The beer is described as:

Oh so spicy and refreshing, almost demanding you to have another. The wet-hops shine through with floral, green, vegetal and spice notes reinforcing the spicy esters created through fermentation by this very special yeast. Time to enjoy the fruits of the season!

I’m more than a little late getting around to posting about this (and seeing growlers for each at yesterday’s Seaport Beerfest was a subtle reminder) but both Rogue’s Roost and Rockbottom Brewpub now offer their beers for sale in growlers.

At Rogue’s Roost the initial purchase of a filled up growler cost $19.95 taxes included and refills go for $11.95.

At Rockbottom growlers go for $8 and can be filled for $13 or $14 depending on which beer you purchase.

Hot off of releasing v3.0 of Hop Mess Monster at Hart & Thistle earlier this week, Rockstar Brewer Greg Nash is bringing something very original to the Halifax beer scene.  Available at 11am tomorrow at Rockbottom is Hasukappu Weisse.

The brew is made Haskap berry (the first commercially available beer brewed with Haskap in North America) and Rockbottom’s German-style hefeweizen.

The new brew described:

The spicy phenols of our classic hefeweizen combine with the tartness of the Haskap in the finish, acidic and very refreshing. This is a great homegrown summer treat. And don’t be surprised to find a little blue nugget in your glass, the berries make for an excellent garnish.

Two versions of the brew have been created.  Version one is available on taps now with version 2 (the final version of the beer) available shortly.

Additional information on the berry is available on the Rockbottom Brewer’s Blog.
