Gahan 1772 IPA now available at ANBL

As mentioned on their Twitter feed ( @PEIBrew ), PEI Brewing Company’s Gahan 1772 IPA is now available at select ANBL stores in New Brunswick.  The brew is currently available in Greater Moncton, Saint John and Fredericton area stores.

In other related news, their Twitter feed also mentions that they have their applications in to get their Gahan Ales and Beach Chair Lager onto the shelves in Nova Scotia although it doesn’t specify if it is NSLC locations or the Private liquor stores.  I’ll update as more information is available.

The July issue of TAPS is now available with a new logo and look to the magazine.  In addition to the new look and feel, the magazine will now be published bi-monthly instead of quarterly.

The Maritime brewing scene is well represented in the issue as usual (our friends in Newfoundland not so much).  The Bar Snacks section of the magazine includes news related to Acadie-Broue, PEI Brewing Co., Pump House Brewery, Moosehead and Bridge Brewing Company.  New Brunswick based writer Craig Pinhey has an article on high IBU beers and an article on Atlantic Canadian waterside pubs which includes the Hart & Thistle, Artisan Cafe & Brewpub (Shiretown Beer) and the Rare Bird Pub & Eatery (Authentic Seacoast Brewing Company).  The Tasting Panel features two reviews of Propeller Double IPA.  (My thoughts on this beer:  Holy Hops Batman!  If you haven’t tried it yet you owe it to yourself).

I’m just getting back from vacation and want to get caught up on recent Atlantic Canadian beer news.  Here’s an overview of links to recent news:

Picaroons:  Here’s a link to a story providing an overview of the recent Women Love Beer Too event which took place on March 8th.  Also their Maple Cream Ale is available again.

Quidi Vidi Brewing Company:  Check out this link (and this related one) to learn more about a special ingredient they use in their beer.

PEI Brewing Company:  As a follow up to my recent post, here is the official press release related to changes at Gahan and a link to additional information from the PEI Beer Guy.

Garrison Brewing Company:  Garrison Brew Diner to take place at Onyx on March 23rd at 6pm with tickets going for $60 each (call Kyle at 428-5680 to reserve).  Here’s a link to the menu.  In other Garrison news, both regular and barrel aged versions of Ol’ Fog Burner Barley Wine have been released.

Hart & Thistle:  C.R.A.F.T. beer (a double IPA) has been released.
